31 years ago when I got started in this business, the first thing I had to learn how to do is not make it about me.
For those of you who may not have religious beliefs, I feel this next part still applies.
When Jesus was walking the earth he would tell his disciples to go out in groups of two. He did this because an expert is not welcome in his hometown.
What do I mean by not welcome? I mean sometimes you have to point to an outside expert who is unknown to them for someone to get the information without bias.
This is because familiarity breeds contempt.
This lesson of promoting and edifying someone outside of myself not only was easier to get across, but it helped explode my business and took it to new heights…
